Military spouses face very specific challenges while supporting our service members and living a nomadic lifestyle: ongoing stress, misunderstood identity, un- and under-employment, and relationship turnover all take a toll on our emotional well-being.
We struggle with mounting pressures to overcome all of these challenges with grit and resilience, because that’s what’s been laid before us. But who are we, really?
Having it all, and doing it all “well” is complicated, hard, and exhausting. No one of us has all the answers, but collectively we may figure a few things out. Collectively, we can all become our own gurus.
With the help of some profound tools like the Enneagram, a supportive community, and possibly a joke here and there, Milspo Gurus can help you navigate this these hardships with a heightened sense of self-awareness, confidence, and focus.
We promise to help you know yourself better and to guide you toward your own path of self-discovery. We’ll be walking down the same path right there beside you!
We promise to help you become your own guru. We certainly don’t want to be that for you, rather we want to convene with an entire community of self-proclaimed sages. You already have everything you need inside you.
We're in this together, and together we'll thrive.
We’re just here to
walk alongside you.

Understanding the fixations and blind spots of my own type (Five), and acknowledging that others see the world through a completely different lens helped me pull myself out of my hole and open up to new relationships in a way that I never imagined possible. It is my sincerest hope that we can help others find the same clarity and compassion for themselves, and maybe provide a navigation tool to get through this crazy military life with a little grace, some compassion for others, and more than a few giggles.

With the constant transitions of military life, I found myself susceptible to sinking into the emotional and mental quicksand of ongoing change. My constant need for consistency and security in all things fed into an unhealthy level of anxiety. The Enneagram has helped to show me that I can trust myself amidst life’s uncertainties and that there is no need to try to out-predict or out-plan every scenario. I have learned to lean in to my love of community, to lead others by tapping into my loyalty to the calling our family has embraced, and to utilize my ability to see all angles of a problem or troubleshoot and make plans from a place of clarity and wisdom.
